How multiplayer Hearts works
1. Create a room
Pick a Hearts game and create a private room. It takes one click and no account.
2. Share the code
Send the link (or the 6-letter code) to your rival. Opening the link is all it takes to join.
3. Both ready up
When you're both in the room, hit Ready. The server deals the identical hand to both of you at the same moment - same cards, same pass.
4. Play the same deal
You each play the same cards against your own West, North and East. Fewer points wins the hand; a tie goes to the faster player.
Solo play vs. multiplayer
Same cards, same rules - the only thing that changes is who you're up against.

Why race a friend?
Hearts is already a game of nerve - duck the hearts, dodge the Queen of Spades, and read the table. Head-to-head mode keeps all of that and adds a rival. You each play your own hand against the same AI opponents, choose your own pass, and take your own risks, but the cards are identical - so when the hand ends, there are no excuses. It's all the sharp thinking of classic Hearts or Black Maria, plus the pulse of a genuine race. It's the one feature the big Hearts sites still don't offer.
Same deal, decided by skill
Every match is built on a single shared seed, so both players face the exact same cards, the same pass, and identical AI opponents. No one gets an easier hand. That means a win is never luck - it's who passes smarter, counts the hearts better, and keeps the queen out of their tricks. If both players finish on the same points, the faster player takes it, so clean, confident play always pays. It pairs naturally with our daily challenge (one shared deal for the whole world each day) and the leaderboard, where your lowest scores are ranked.

Live racing is available for all four of our games: classic Hearts, Omnibus Hearts, Spot Hearts and Black Maria. Pick one when you create your room; your opponent gets the matching deal automatically.

All four: classic Hearts, Omnibus Hearts, Spot Hearts and Black Maria. Because both players get the same deal and the same opponents, every race is fair - you win on skill, not the luck of the shuffle.
Do I need an account to play multiplayer?
No. Anyone with the room link can join as a guest and enter a display name. Signing in is optional and simply keeps your record and stats across devices.
What happens if my opponent disconnects?
If a player leaves or loses connection mid-match, the remaining player wins. You can also start a rematch with one click, which deals a fresh identical hand to both players in the same room.
