What happens at 100 points in Hearts?

Scores are checked after each hand, never in the middle of one. If any player's running total has reached 100 or more, the game ends immediately, and whoever has the lowest total is the winner. Note that the winner is not 'whoever avoided 100' - if a big hand pushes two players past 100 at once, the lowest score of all four still takes the game.

The 100-point line reshapes late-game strategy. A player sitting at 95 will play desperately safe - or desperately bold, since a moon attempt may be their only way back. Meanwhile the leader wants the game to end and may happily push points onto the player closest to 100 to finish it. Knowing everyone's total is as important as knowing your cards.

The threshold matches the scale of the scoring. Classic and Omnibus games play to 100, but Spot Hearts hands out up to 129 points at a time, so it plays to 500 instead. A shorter game is easy too: the daily challenge is a single hand, where the fewest points wins outright.
